Code of Ethics

Expedixo covers a specialised global industry in which the credibility of information matters enormously. Travel retail professionals, investors, brand managers, and airport operators make decisions based partly on the news they read. This code exists to ensure that everything Expedixo publishes is produced to the highest standard of journalistic integrity.

This Code of Ethics applies to all Expedixo editorial staff, freelance contributors, and anyone producing content published under the Expedixo name.

Our Core Principles

Editorial Independence

Expedixo’s editorial content is produced independently of commercial, financial, or political influence. Our coverage decisions — what we report, how we report it, and what angle we take — are determined solely by journalistic merit and reader value. No advertiser, sponsor, investor, or industry body has authority to direct, alter, or suppress our editorial output.

No Pay-for-Coverage

Expedixo does not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage, positive reviews, or the favourable framing of any company, product, or individual. Brands that advertise with Expedixo receive no preferential editorial treatment as a result of that commercial relationship. Sponsored content is clearly labelled and is not presented as independent editorial.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

Expedixo staff and contributors are required to disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationships with the subjects of their coverage. Where a conflict of interest exists, the relevant journalist is recused from that coverage. Any undisclosed conflict of interest that comes to the attention of the editorial team will be addressed promptly, including with a disclosure note on the relevant article if necessary.

Protection of Sources

Expedixo takes the protection of confidential sources seriously. We will not disclose the identity of a source who has been promised confidentiality unless legally compelled to do so and after exhausting all available legal protections. Sources are informed of the basis on which they are speaking — on the record, on background, or off the record — before any information is used.

Fairness and Proportionality

We strive to represent all sides of a story fairly and proportionately. Where criticism of a company or individual is published, we make reasonable efforts to obtain and include a response. We do not sensationalise, exaggerate, or misrepresent information to generate attention at the expense of accuracy.

Diversity of Perspectives

Expedixo serves a genuinely global industry spanning Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and beyond. We are committed to representing the full diversity of this industry in our coverage — including voices from emerging markets, independent operators, and underrepresented communities within travel retail.

Transparency in Methodology

When Expedixo publishes data, rankings, analysis, or market insight, we disclose the methodology and source behind that information. We do not present commercially produced research as independent editorial analysis without clear attribution.

Accountability and Corrections

We hold ourselves to the same standards of accountability we expect from the industry we cover. When we make mistakes, we correct them visibly and promptly, as set out in our Corrections Policy. We do not ignore or suppress legitimate complaints about our journalism.

Responsible Use of Technology

Expedixo uses technology — including artificial intelligence tools — to assist in the production of content only in ways that are transparent to readers and consistent with our editorial standards. We do not use technology to fabricate information, impersonate sources, or mislead readers about the nature or origin of our content. AI-assisted content is disclosed in accordance with our Editorial Standards.

Privacy and Harm Minimisation

Expedixo respects the privacy of individuals covered in our journalism. We do not publish private personal information that is not relevant to the public interest. We consider the potential harm that publication could cause to individuals, particularly those who are not public figures, and apply proportionality in our coverage decisions.
