Highland Park has unveiled its latest global travel retail exclusive, the Light of Orkney 11 Year Old, a new single malt Scotch whisky inspired by the long summer days and natural beauty of the Orkney Islands.
The new release is now rolling out across international duty free and travel retail locations worldwide, strengthening Highland Park’s growing presence in the premium travel retail whisky category.

A new entry point into Highland Park’s signature style
Positioned as the youngest expression in Highland Park’s current portfolio, the Light of Orkney 11 Year Old has been created to offer travellers an accessible introduction to the distillery’s renowned sweet and smoky character.
The whisky has been matured for 11 years in a combination of sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, bourbon casks and selected refill casks. According to the brand, the resulting flavour profile delivers caramelised sweetness, bright citrus notes and delicate floral smoke derived from Highland Park’s signature Orkney heathered peat.
Priced at approximately US$55 (£44), the new expression is aimed at both whisky enthusiasts and travellers seeking premium yet approachable single malt offerings in airport retail environments.
Packaging inspired by Orkney’s summer light
The Light of Orkney packaging design takes inspiration from the changing colours and dramatic landscapes of the Orkney Islands during summer. The bottle and carton feature layered strata-style patterns reflecting Orkney’s cliffs, hillsides and coastal scenery illuminated by extended northern daylight.
The design continues Highland Park’s recent visual identity strategy focused on showcasing the distillery’s Orkney heritage within travel retail.
Travel retail focus and global rollout
The launch forms part of Highland Park’s broader strategy to strengthen recruitment and premiumisation within global travel retail whisky sales. The brand confirmed that the release will be supported through in-store activations and promotional visibility campaigns throughout the year.

Kasper Andersen, Regional Managing Director Western Europe & Global Travel Retail at Edrington, described the whisky as an important addition to the brand’s travel retail portfolio, helping introduce new consumers to Highland Park’s signature flavour profile.
Growing demand for travel retail exclusive whiskies
Travel retail-exclusive Scotch whisky releases continue to gain momentum as brands seek to attract international travellers with unique expressions unavailable in domestic retail markets. Highland Park has increasingly focused on exclusive airport releases and distinctive packaging concepts to strengthen its visibility in global duty free channels.
Industry analysts expect accessible premium single malts such as Light of Orkney 11 Year Old to perform strongly among younger whisky consumers and travellers looking for collectible travel-exclusive bottlings.
